Homemade Hot Fudge (!)

When I used to work as a waitress at Big Boy, I had the extreme pleasure of making ice cream treats and deserts for my customers.

This is where I developed my rather unhealthy addiction for ice cream toppings — strawberry, pineapple, hot caramel, hot fudge….

I used to (sort of) joke that I wanted one of the 5 lb cans of hot fudge as a birthday present.

Instead, I got this recipe:

Homemade Hot Fudge

You will need:

4 cups powdered sugar
1 large bag chocolate chips
2 large cans evaporated milk
2 sticks of oleo (margarine) or butter
2 teaspoons vanilla

What you do:
Cook the milk, sugar and chips on medium heat until the chocolate is melted and the mixture thickens.

Remove from heat and add oleo and vanilla.

Put back on heat and cook approximately 5 minutes.

This makes a lot of hot fudge, so if you aren’t a shameless addict (like me), you may want to cut the recipe in half.
