The old standby – Mom’s Seven Layer Salad

This is a favorite recipe of my mother’s…. it ended up at many a family party…..

You will need:

1 head lettuce
1 cup green pepper
1 cup celery
1 (10 oz.) package frozen peas
1 (10 oz.) package shredded colby cheese
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 cup real mayonnaise

Wash lettuce, green pepper and celery.
In layers, put 1/2 the head of lettuce (broken up into chunks) into the bottom of a large bowl.
Next, place 1/2 cup of the green peppers, 1/2 cup of the celery, 1/2 of the package of frozen peas; all in their separate layer.
Layer the rest of the vegetable ingredients in the same manner.
Once that is done, mix the mayonnaise and sugar together into a measuring cup.
Spread this mayo/sugar mixture on top of the salad layers, making sure to get the mayo mix close and tight to the edge of the bowl to seal in the flavor.
Sprinkle cheese on top, cover bowl with lid or plastic wrap, and refrigerate.
Let sit in fridge overnight to serve next day.

Serves many.
